Once, a meeting of numbers was called by a renowned mathematician. All numbers attended the meeting except for Zero, who was in hiding.

The mathematician ordered the numbers to find Zero and bring him to the meeting. The search began and after a long time, zero was found hiding behind a tree.

The numbers caught him and brought him before the mathematician. The mathematician asked Zero why he was hiding and not attending the meeting.

Zero replied, “Sir, I am Zero. People think I have no value, so no one respects me. That’s why I didn’t come to the meeting.”

The mathematician summoned the number One (1) and instructed it to take its place right in front of him. Zero, who had been hiding earlier, was then asked by the mathematician to reveal the value of One. Zero answered, “One.”

The mathematician asked Zero to stand to the right of One. The mathematician then asked the other numbers, “What is the value of this number?” and they all replied, “Ten.”

Instructed by the mathematician, the Zeros lined up in a row to the right of One, one after another.

As additional zeroes were introduced, the value of One soared to greater heights, increasing by factors of one hundred, one thousand, ten thousand, a hundred thousand, and beyond.

The mathematician told Zero that when he stood to the right of One, the value of One increased, proving that any number by itself has little value.

Zero understood the point the mathematician made and realized that his lack of value was baseless and wrong.
