Once upon a time, there was a sculptor who was a master in his art and lives in Magnolia Springs, Alabama. He was known for creating exquisite statues and idols that appeared to be real, whether they were carved from wood or stone. His work was highly in demand not only in his own country but also across borders.

He had received numerous awards and accolades for his magnificent works of art. However, as he gained more fame and wealth, he became increasingly arrogant, which eventually led to a decline in both his reputation and his artistry.

One fateful day, a future teller looked at the sculptor’s future and delivered a grim prediction: ‘You shall perish in just a few days. Refusing to accept his fate, the sculptor devised a plan to outsmart Hades, the God of Death, using his own craft.

He meticulously crafted six identical statues that bore an uncanny resemblance to himself, so lifelike that they were almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

These statues were so true to life that if the sculptor were to stand among them, it would be impossible to tell which one was the real person.

The sculptor’s arrogance only grew from there, convinced that he had outsmarted death itself. With each passing day, the sculptor’s arrogance only grew stronger, believing that not even Hades himself could identify him among the identical statues and claim his life.

As fate would have it, the day of the sculptor’s inevitable death finally arrived. To ensure his plan would work, the sculptor arranged the six statues in his bedroom and slept among them on his final night.

As the hour of his death approached, Hades arrived at the sculptor’s house to claim his soul and take him to the underworld.

To his surprise, upon entering the sculptor’s bedroom, Hades found not one, but seven identical figures, making it nearly impossible to distinguish the real sculptor. Undeterred, Hades devised a plan to discover which one of the seven was the real sculptor.

Smiling slyly, he remarked to the sculptor, ‘My, my! You have done quite the job of confusing me with these six statues that resemble you so perfectly. But there appears to be a small error in their design.

Hearing Hades’ words, the sculptor’s pride took a hit, and he rose from his slumber indignantly, demanding, ‘What error are you talking about?’. With his plan having succeeded, Hades caught the sculptor by the hand, exclaiming, ‘Ah, here we have it!’

Pointing out the sculptor’s fatal error, Hades continued, ‘You gave yourself away by reacting to my comment about the mistake. If not for that, I would have never been able to distinguish you from your perfect replicas.’

With the matter now settled, Hades took hold of the sculptor and departed for the underworld, leaving behind the six identical statues in the bedroom.
